KSL3? Interest and Suggestions
Posted 18 Jan 2012
First thing I've posted here on these forums in two months!
There's been a little talk of holding another competition - the third incarnation of the Kapoks StarCraft II League!
Initially, I feel it's a good idea to measure the interest in such a thing. So far, I've have heard some positive sounds coming from DHK, Franky, and myself of course. Are there any other names willing to be thrown into the hat? Please bear in mind that the format of the competition is very much up for discussion so this is just a rather loose measurement at the moment.
On the format itself, do we stick to the league table system we have been using previously? Do we opt for a knockout tournament? Why not do both? Or we could invent some kind of hybrid?
I also hope to look into some of the finer details as well and welcome any related suggestions, just so long as we also have the answers to these big questions as a base to start from
Cheers guys! -
Week Seven: And then there were two
Posted 14 Nov 2011
Knit's already slim chances of winning the championship, and even second place, were completely dashed after suffering a shock defeat to Gaz.
Results
- Franky 2 - DHK 0
- Deonilin 2 - DragonTank 0
- Gaz 2 - Knit 1
- Emerald 2 - Max 0
League Table Snapshot
- Franky (5 wins)
- Emerald (5)
- Knit (4)
- Deonilin (2)
- DHK (2)
- Max (2)
- Gaz (2)
- Typh (1)
- DragonTank (0)
The map to be used in each first game of Round Seven is LOST TEMPLE
Franky v Deonilin
Franky's perfect game continued last week as he recorded his tenth victory in all KSL competitions, the first player to do so. But he must be wary of Deon's threat - the only game of his that hasn't finished 2-1 this season was against bottom-of-the-table DragonTank last week.

Last season: Franky 3 - Deonilin 0
DHK v Knit
Knit's season is beginning to derail, following defeat to Gaz last week. He will once again be tested against Terran opposition as his hopes of finishing third will rest on this particular fixture. DHK has similarly been on and off this season, so this encounter will provide a fascinating watch.

Last season: DHK 0 - Knit 3
DragonTank v Emerald

Last season: DragonTank 0 - Emerald 3
Max v Typh
A battle between two newcomers who have both had fairly difficult seasons thus far. Max has been steadily improving, whilst Typh's interest appears to be gradually fading. This match is the perfect opportunity for one of them to score some major points and nestle amongst the pack of mid-table competitors.

DHK v Gaz
Posted 11 Nov 2011
The rules state that "players have up until the end of a round (each round lasting one week) to complete their match."
Gaz believes that he did as much as he could to ensure that he didn't fall foul of this particular rule by making himself readily available throughout much of Round Five, including the set date that had been agreed between both participants. Dave, however, went absent unexpectedly and was unable to play.
I really don't think there is any doubt over where the responsibility lies for this matchup being in breach of the above rule. The debate, of which there has already been plenty, is over what is to be done about it.
Gaz has declared that he would like to be awarded the victory by default - this was the consequence assumed by many.
I presume that Dave would much rather prefer to reschedule this fixture instead - understandable, in the interest of a more complete competition.
The lack of official documentation on this is entirely my fault so please direct any displeasures you have at myself and not anybody else! Again, for this, and for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result, I sincerely apologise.
Anyway, if it were in writing, I'd be able to pull it from the rulebook and apply what should have been done straight away. But any decision I make alone on this now would seem as though the rules are being made up as we go along in order to favour someone over another. I can assure you that this isn't the case and nor do I want this to come across in any way.
Therefore, I think it is necessary that the match participants and the rest of the league competitors have their say in this particular instance. Please cast your vote in the poll (above) given the three options that I think are the most suitable.
Thank you. -
KSL Week Six: We have a new leader
Posted 7 Nov 2011
Franky's flawless 100% record continues as the defending KSL champion storms into the lead at the top of the table.
Results

- Max 2 - Deonilin 1
- Knit 2 - Typh 0

- DHK (2)

- Deonilin (1)
- Typh (1)
- Gaz (1)
- DragonTank (0)
Franky now leads the way in the league for the first time this season after another fine display against DragonTank, who is still rooted to the bottom of the table without a win. Deonilin squandered yet another 1-0 lead to let Max pass him by in both the match itself and the overall league standings. Two wins out of the last two matches for our highest placed newcomer now moves him up to fifth. Knit bounced back strongly from the previous week's defeat to overpower Typh, who now spends the week off to contemplate his next fixture against Max. Gaz v DHK is still as yet unplayed.
The map to be used in each first game of Round Six is DESERT OASIS
Franky v DHK
Franky is showing no signs of halting, his unrelenting surge back to the table's summit.

Battlefield 3
Posted 29 Oct 2011
For the time being, for a number of reasons, I've decided not to get Battlefield 3. Of the most prominent reasons, I'd say I'm more focused on StarCraft II right now and simply don't have the time otherwise.
But if I did have the time, is it worth getting? Sales have soared, some people here already have it, and I know several who will be getting it.
What are the first thoughts and the initial reaction?
Is there also enough demand for a dedicated forum here as well?
