My iPhone had already replaced what I used for email and browsing lol.
The iPad jus replaced that now lol.

Still got laptop for work and my computer for study lol.

Unnecessary is a poor excuse :-P
Phones, TVs and computers are unnecessary but we have them :-)
Tablet computers just slot between laptop and computer. Depends exactly what you do day to day though i guess (and how much money you have too probably lmao.)
Like right now I'm posting this from the pad cause i cant be arsed booting the pc just to do it lmao.

Time to check mail and play pinball before bed :D

I can appreciate them for what they are but it seems to me that apple missed out on what could have been a very useful device. Its so locked down and has such little in the way of ports that you cant use it for much more than that you would use your phone for. If it was developed as a portable version of a laptop with a fully fledged version of OSx it would make more sense to me. I do however appreciate it might not be the same device as it would loose the battery advantage and would require a significant processor improvement.

I will reserve the rest of my judgment until i get to use one.

That's true, but those provide a significant lifestyle improvement, especially when compared to their predecessors. Like what Deon said, they're so limited and almost seemingly like an oversized re-hash of the iPhone.

I suppose they can be useful if you can see yourself using it, fair enough. My arguement is that I have a laptop and a desktop so having something that is only 'in the middle' dosn't seem necessary to me. :P

iPad has less features than the iPhone... so how can it replace it? It's like replacing a TFT monitor with built in speakers with a bigger CRT monitor without speakers.... or something xD something bigger which does less.

Because we've started using the iPhone for a lot more than apple ever intended. So for some things on the iPhone such as email and web browsing and even game, we are limited to a small screen and end up draining our battery. I didn't mean replace completely, just for those usages and when in the flat lol.

Now you could argue that you'd use a laptop for that, but really you cant sit on the sofa on your laptop - you need a desk. A laptop is more a computer you can move between places not really a device you can use on the go - and to be honest id always used my iPhone for it instead because i couldn't be arced setting the laptop up or going into my bedroom to the computer - I wanted to stay in the living room. I can use ipad in the car and on the sofa etc so it does offer more portability than a laptop albeit less features... But given time I bet there'll be an app for everything lol. One big feature of the iPad too though is it doubles as a book reader. So when you say the iPad has less features than an iPhone - it doesn't really. It has its own features of things the iPhone can't do - such as watch films with friends on the train or plane and it does offer better game quality.

I will say one thing though - so far the app store is a bit sparse but seems to be picking up with more and more good stuff though - seems a lot of developers been a bit behind lol. But so far the raw features of it sufficed for me :-)

As for putting more ports on it - that is a fair argument and i do agree - I'd have been in immediate love if it had an Ethernet port!! Or even simply an adapter that you plug into the connector that turns it into an Ethernet port - that would've been frikkin amazing lol!!

But yeh you need to get ur hands on one and try it out I love them :-) but I would only say buy one if you're a big web and mail user like me. I suppose if you're not you wouldn't have as much use for it lol and it would a bit too much price tag for something you might use once a week. But if your on email and youtube and other sites daily then yeh it's brill!!

Loving remote desktop from the ipad too!! Heehee !!

Hehe yeh I was disappointed by it though - the new levels they have aren't on the iPad HD version!! b***ards lol. Hopefully they'll add them soon :-)

Pinball is awesome though!! Might buy PAC man next week too haha!! :D

I can and hence I actually do sometimes! :) And I often use it on the go as well if I'm travelling long distances.

it may not be a laptop but it would have been nice if it had the features of one. I can understand everything but that.

A book reader is pointless - i hate reading on screens and its not as good as the kindle which still wasnt to a standard that i would choose over an actual book.

tbh, i have a netbook, does the sofa browsing job just fine for a much more healthy looking price. seeing as a bought a linux netbook and installed a copy of xp myself. was about £120. but i will be honest, if i had £430 + more for good apps etc, then i would have one right now.

so fair play, i can see the point, in a sense, but not right now tyvm :P
