ET would be a good option Baserace is the best fun map, you basiclly have to collect parts and build your base! You can use all classes etc and I can get access to a server we can use. let me know your thoughts.

quite a bit more complex than CSS beastie, but easy enough to learn.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and also abit to Enemy Territory: Quake wars.

Its faster than CoD and CSS.

Yeah it's only really like the other games from the same series.

Basically it's not round based like CSS, which i'm guessing is why zenix is saying it's "faster" (kind of a loose term that could mean anything, correct me if i'm wrong) so you respawn after you die. Then again you respawn on deathmatch in CoD so... :S he can expand on that.
Maps are objective based, so you have to blow up certain things, build certain things and once you've done one objective you move on to the next one until you've blown up an important thing, or stolen it etc.
There are multiple classes, which have different weapons and abilities. Some objectives require specific classes in order to complete them. Stuff like soldiers (damage), medics (healer...duh!), engineer (builds/dynamites objectives), covert-ops (can steal enemies clothes as disguise) etc You need to play it to get used to how it all works and i'm not going to try and describe the whole thing because there's a lot of differences between each class.

that's ET in a nutshell i'd say... though it sounds like Kip is suggesting some kind of mod server which could completely turn most of that stuff i just said on it's head.

i suppose so a bit... but not really :P TF2 still isn't as objective based as ET. Objectives vary a lot more in ET I think.

baserace is just a big map with two bases, you need to get to enemys base, steal parts and deliver it to your base to build your own base.

baserace is a cool map, but with too many players it can get very unstable and laggy :(

I'm game, when we thinkin to do this ?

I'll have to reDL et but shouldn't be a problem, although I'm on our desktop atm so its rly terrible fps sadly.

Anyway, BaseRace is just a map, like Oasis, or GoldRush, it doesn't change any dynamics.

You can run the map BaseRace on various ET modes, but each mode is quite similar with basicly just different settings. Its just a non-standard map, but most ET maps are non-standard since it only started with 6 I think.

Example, modes, like ETNQ (No Quarter) vs ETPub vs ETPro, just different rules mostly, hitboxes often a little different, more "fun" options in NQ and Pub like doublejump etc., and NQ has quite a few extra weapons for the various classes, that is really the only difference.

Each Mode has various gameplay options, StopWatch, Objective, LastManStanding, Campaign, all of them using the same map pool, and only the mode really changes anything. SW is where each team plays one side of the map (Allies / Axis) and then that time is recorded and the reverse teams is played (Allies and Axis swap) and they try and beat the other teams time. LMS is sorta like CSS I think although haven't played it since its a little lame and hard to find a server that even uses it. Obj and Camp are basically the same, only they use either Obj files or campaign files (campaign files are buggy often and inflexible so used less often I think) to load the next map.

In Soviet Ulduar, Algalon farms you.

maybe just keep it as standard to start with... so everyone can easily be on the same level? sounds like theres a few new people to ET and a few who haven't played in a while.

Baserace is more a complete fun map. We can also play a competition map like supplydepot. And play 3on3 than, or 6on6 those are the 2 modes that are used in ET competition.
We can just mix the good and the new players together. That way you will get balanced teams. The team with me wins anyway :P ETPro is the most used mod.

And what i mean with ET is faster, you walk faster the game is overall faster. And the its objective based game. So for example if i take supplydepot
You need to take a flag, than blow a door, and than you need to drive a truck to another gate, blow the gate there and blow 2 side gates ( east west ) so you can get in supplydepot. Than you need to construct the supplydepot, and the supplydepot will be loaded on the truck and than you need to bring the truck home. There are so many options in ET, you can play this game in many different ways. But in the end the objective is the most important, and the spawn. I am the most experienced competitive player in ET i think here on this forum, i played mostly premier league level in ET opencups. So if you wanna know something just ask me. I also know the best servers where you can play, those servers are not for beginners. But if you want to learn fast, the best way is too watch ETTV matches on www.gamestv.org the best ET matches are broadcasted there, so you can see how the game works and is played. just press ~ and than connect ip and have fun.

In competition you have stopwatch, so one team attacks, set a time on supplydepot. That means they did all objectives. Than the other team can attack and the other can defend. And that other teams needs to beat that time to win. This is also how ET:QW matches work.

If people are up for this then download that multipack installer that someone put a link to, I think it might of been in the orignal topic. Then everyone has the same maps and is roughly at the same level. There are bound to be problems to start off with as its ET but 99.9% of problems are easily fixed. Its best to get the game up and running before we choose a night to have some fun as we don't want to find half of the people can't join the server of have some other techie problem. Its a very quick learning curve and together we can help each other so if anyone has any questions then let me know. If I can't anwser it there are enough Ex/ET players on here.

We might see some old faces popping up from the wood work, I still see Zulu allot and I have Lars,Era,Elf and Mats on msn
