Kapoks.CSS are once again seeking some reinforcements.
We intend only to take onboard UP TO THREE new members. Applicants are dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis and must meet the following entry criteria:

Based in Europe.
Aged 16 and over, though we may consider exceptions.
Willing to participate in TeamSpeak - must have microphone and speak good English.
Activity:
- Be able to attend our scheduled sessions and some impromptu sessions that we hold every now and then
- Maintain availability for match selection.
- Visit these forums regularly for updates on what is going on, otherwise you will inevitabley fall out of the loop and subsequently end up being removed.

Those who were involved and unsuccessful in any of our previous two recruiting campaigns, back in Spring and Autumn, need not apply. Come along to a few of the aforementioned clan sessions that we hold and we will also be in touch (via PM here on the forums) to arrange a trial.
Failure to attend a trial arrangement will subsequently surrender your place to the back of the queue for consideration. Once we feel that you have been thoroughly assessed, you will be contacted (again, via these forums) with regard to the success of your application.

As some may have noticed, I've been having internet issues. Today was pretty much the worst so far, disconnecting me every 5 minutes or so. I'll try to get on at about 7pm, to see if it's fixed yet. If it's not then I'll be unavailable for tonight (until it has been fixed). If I'm not on at 7 (dutch time so 6 GMT), don't expect me to get online.

IRC - Help for beginners.

As the Counter-strike:Source section of the clan is becomming more active I think it is important members know how to use IRC. This will help when it comes to finding wars and or general discussions.

This help topic is by no way an comprehensive tutorial on setup and installation and will not give you much insite into how things work. What it will do is provide links to common help topics and give an insite into the most commonly required aspects.

Introduction to IRC:

IRC (internet relay chat) is a way of realtime communication. You communicate through channels which are like a group chat on MSN messenger or Xfire.

To create a channel you will require a server and a client. In this case you are the client and the rest of the tutorial will explain the steps required for a client to connect to a given server.

mIRC:

mIRC is one of many programs a client can use to connect to the server. It is probably the most common but users using Oprea and Firefox can connect through their browsers if they so wish.

--Below references will be for mIRC only--

mIRC is avaliable from HERE. The site also contains a lot of useful help information which will be linked to below.

Getting Started:

1: Download and install mIRC (from above link)
2: Follow THIS LINK and read with the below information to connect to the Kapoks channel.
3:A: As part of step '2' go to the servers 'window' - here will will specify the server we wish to connect to.
B: Under the folder 'Quakenet' select 'Random Server'

You will now be connected to the Quakenet server the next step is to select the channel you wish to connect to.

4: As shown in step '3' you now need to connect to a channel. Kapoks use the channel "#Kapoks"
5: Type this into the box as like they have for "#mIRC"
6: Click Join

You are now connected to the kapoks IRC channel

Further information:

Getting to the point of this topic; to find wars on CSS go to the channel "#5on5.css" or eqivilant depending on the team sizes you want for the match.

when in the channel people or yourselves can post as follows to request a war

5 ON 5 | SERVER OFF | LOW | De_Nuke

the break down of this is as follow.

5 ON 5 - the size of the squad, this is effectivly a confimation as people sometimes get the wrong channel.
Server Off - You can have server on or off, this specifies if you want to play on your own server or on the oppositions. Use server on for your own.
LOW - this is your skill and you try to select a team of similar skill. Other variants are MID and HIGH but you can use LOW-MID should you wish to be more specific - for the extreems of the scale use a + sign eg HIGH+ means very high.
De_Nuke - This specifies the map you want to play, aternativly you can use De_Any or Any map if you do not have a preference. That said this assumes use of standard maps only.

If you want to you can add UK only, English only EU only etc after.

To reply to a request on the server click on the players IRC username which is within "<>" prefixing the message. This will bring up a private chat window within which you can reply to him, find server IP and pass and relay to your ready teamates.

Rules:

These are subject to confirmation by knit and emerald

-You may play wars with other clan members ONLY [adding mix players under kapoks tags will not be tollerated] without prior permission. (you will need to use server off)
-Make sure you have a team that are willing to play before you find a war
-Do not arrange wars when a clanbase match is due to be played (backup players could be required)
-If you want to use the kapoks server make sure that you have prior agreement from Emerald or Knit and that a server admin is avaliable throught the match.

Notes:

Do not post requests or comments in this post other than IRC related quieries or problems.

Congratulations on passing your second trial. Apologies for not making it but i'm sure i'll play with ya plenty when i'm back from holiday.

Get your tags on and get your clanbase ID to Knit ASAP so you're eligible for clan wars in the 4v4 ladder
